A Tour Of The Ice Cream WorldWe all love the movie “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.” It will never get old. Why? Perhaps because no matter how old you are, you still want to win a golden ticket and take a tour of a factory full of sweets and candy.

If you agree with me, then I have a great idea about where to travel for an experience similar to Charlie’s.

Ben & Jerry’s Factory is the most famous ice cream factory in the world. It is located in Waterbury, Vermont. But what’s so special about it? Well, the fact that you can visit this factory, learn about the ice cream making process and taste the flavor of the day is extremely tempting.

The factory organizes special tours for tourists. The tour starts with a movie called “Cow Over The Moon Theater.” The movie tells about Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. They met in the seventh grade, took ice cream making classes and opened a small ice cream store that would later become a factory.

The story is very simple and at the same time incredible. But then, when you think of it, who else could be more successful in making ice cream than two little boys?

The best part of the tour is surely the Testing Room. There you’ll find all the flavors that were made that day, and you are free to try ALL of them!

Another extraordinary thing about this factory is the Flavor Graveyard. You pass through fake tombstones of ice cream flavors that were “killed” because of their low sales rate. These flavors come to rest in this graveyard letting new experiments of flavors to be born.

The names of the flavors and the dates when they were sold are written on the tombstones, like Peanut Butter & Jelly (1998-1999), Miz Jelena’s Sweet Potato Pie (1992-1993) and many other flavors. There is also a picture of the ice cream on a cone with angel wings.

I’m more than sure that this is a great place to visit with the family. Give your kids a treat and go on a tour of Ben and Jerry’s.
