Faro City: Host Of Festivals
Faro city, the capital of Algarve region and one of the big cities in Portugal, is considered to be a city of festivals and holidays. Being situated near the shore, Faro is also a city of sunny beaches. These two main activities make the city a hot tourist attraction.
The most popular festival is perhaps Faro International Motorcycle Rally, known throughout the world. It takes place every year in July.
Besides the rallies that are organized on these days, people may also take part in concerts, motorcycle fairs and many other activities. The festival also includes a fantastic exposition of desserts and pastries.
Among other important events are the Students’ Festival, organized each year by Algarve University students and the annual International Music Festival, which is held in May and June.
It is indeed a real fun to walk in Faro streets especially on these festival days. There are so many things to see and enjoy. However, if you are not used to walking, there are also buses available. You may also travel around the city by car. And if you do not have your own with you, Faro car hire will never leave you without a car.
The city also has a number of holidays. The most important holiday is Feira de Santa Iria, in honor of Saint Irene. It is celebrated each year in October.
