Things To Do In India: Part 1Be sure that Indian trip destinations will not make you disappointed. You will find something interesting and attractive for you to see or do in this incredible country.

India is not only the most populous democracy in the world, but it is also the home of the oldest civilization — Indus Valley Civilization — and an interesting merger of various religions, cultures, languages and traditions. This makes India a perfect place to spend your vacation.

Indian temples come to prove that India has a rich centuries-old historic heritage.

Taj Mahal, a mausoleum in Agra, is, unambiguously the most recognizable among both ancient and modern temples in India. The temple was devoted to Mumtaz Mahal — Mughal emperor Shah Jahan’s favorite wife. It is a mixture of Islamic, Indian and Persian architectural styles. When saying Taj Mahal many of us imagine the white mausoleum only, in fact it is a complex of structures that took 21 years to construct (1632-1653).

Taj Mahal is worthily shortlisted to be one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The Khajuraho Temples in the Chhatarpur District is another famous sight in India. Primarily it consisted of 85 temples; however, only 22 of them survived to this day. They are famous for the large amount of erotic sculptures that are so common for medieval Hindu and Jain temples.

Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu is a complex of 14 magnificent Gopurams (towers). It is believed to be built between 950 and 1050 A.D. According to the legend it was in Madurai where the wedding of Shiva and Meenakshi took place.

Things To Do In India: Part 1The Golden Temple or Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar is an exemplar of oldest gurudwaras (worshiping places for Sikhs). It is hard to distinguish whether the Golden Temple is so popular due to its religious and spiritual meaning or its unique and fantastic architecture. It attracts the believers and tourists all over the world, but one thing is indubitable — it deserves to be included in the list of places on your sightseeing travel schedule.

Konark Sun Temple is among the most famous tourist destinations of India. It is located in Konark, Orissa and was constructed by King Narasimhadeva in the 13th century. It is said that the construction of the temple was not completed, because it was built up mainly from sandstone and was not strong enough to bear more weight. Nonetheless, that does not make it less wonderful and interesting.
