If you are already interested in this unique hotel, read on about the best time in the year to visit Lapland, Santa Claus’s home.
If you want to visit the fascinating Ice Hotel in the winter (December 10-April 16), you will have the chance to stay in the ice rooms, see the exhibition and even get married or baptized in the Ice Chapel.
If you want to have your wedding or get baptized in such extreme conditions, which will allow you to remember every single detail of the ceremony forever, make the reservation beforehand.
In winter you won’t see a lot of sun there and most of the time it will be very dark. But instead there will be a high possibility of seeing the Northern Lights. You can also find great hiking places in the winter.
If you visit this hotel in early December, you will see the construction of the hotel that starts at that time. The rooms and even the beds are made of ice, and sculptors from all over the world shape superb sculptures and decorations for the hotel.
The Ice Bar, which was first set up in 1994, is another unforgettable place to visit. All the furniture in the bar is made of ice. When you order a drink, make sure you’re wearing gloves to hold the icy glasses. Besides Jukkasjärvi, you can find an Ice Bar in Stockholm and London as well.
If you don’t think you can stay in the Ice Hotel for several days, you can always visit it as a daytime visitor (10am-6pm) and take the guided tours offered both in English and Swedish. But in the evenings the hotel is open only for those who want to stay overnight.
