Hiking Along Smoky Mountains
Every day at 7:30 am your alarm wakes you up. You take a shower, have your breakfast–of course if you manage–and hurry to the office. After a hard workday you come home, sit in your favorite armchair and think about a vacation.
Some people prefer to have leisure time vacations, others prefer hiking vacations, mountain climbing vacations, cycling, diving vacations, or adventure vacations.
You have already planned your vacation, but you haven’t decided on a destination yet. All in all it’s not a great problem. There are many parks and trails for hikers in the United States, but the most majestic and impressive destination offered is Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The Great Smoky Mountains have more than 850 miles of trails.
One of the most problematic tasks that hikers face, is what trail to choose? First of all, start from what you’d like to see–waterfalls, old forests or maybe endless vistas? Secondly, think about how far you want to hike. If it’s your first experience in hiking or you haven’t hiked much recently, then don’t choose long trails. Five miles during the trip is a good maximum distance for you.
Many hikers in the Smokies travel about 1.5 miles for an hour. Sunset times vary from just after 5:00 pm in the winter to 9:00 pm in the summer. That’s why be sure that you have plenty of time and complete your hike before getting dark. The Chimney Tops trail is one of the most accessible in the Smoky Mountains. It is four miles long, round-trip.
Hundreds of thousands of people prefer hiking the trails of Great Smoky Mountain National Park every year. Hiking vacations are not only enjoyable, but also great for your health.
