the holy city vatican Vatican: The Holy CityTraveling attracts people of every profession. There are thousands of tourism places to choose from. Seaside, forest resorts or mountains are very popular, but a classic traveler chooses a classic destination.

It’s a sin not to visit the Vatican for once in your life. This state, which looks like a city (that’s why its official name is the State of Vatican City), is situated on Vatican Hill which is in the west-central part of Rome.

The architecture and nature of the Vatican are fascinating. The Vatican Gardens provide the city its greenness. The gardens are decorated with sculptures and fountains of Renaissance and Baroque eras.

The pearl of the city is St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest Christian church in the world. The cathedral and the St. Peter’s square perfectly complete each other. Even if you are not a religious person, you will surely appreciate the magnificent architecture.

The works of Michelangelo make the interior of the basilica even more dazzling. No words can describe its beauty. You have to see this enormous building for yourself to understand its uniqueness and feel the spiritual comfort it gives.

This basilica is special as St. Peter’s tomb still lies under the main altar. Besides, the cathedral hosts a 500-year-old incredible art collection.

If you are alone, you might want to join the Vatican tours that usually cover St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museum.

There’s one more detail you should take care of. Before heading to the basilica, make sure that you’re wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long shorts or pants. Otherwise you will not be allowed to enter the building. Hot weather will never cancel the dress code of the churches in the Vatican. On special occasions the dress code is even stricter.

The Vatican, the center of Roman Catholic Church, will present to you the art of Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno, Botticelli and many other famous Italian artists of all times. Don’t forget to capture the best moments with your camera and enjoy your classic vacation to the fullest.
