Top 5 Places To Visit In China: Part 2In my previous post I wrote about Beijing and the Terracotta Army Museum in Xian. Now let’s go on with our travel destinations in China.

3. Another worthwhile place to visit is the Bund — the most recognizable tourism place of Shanghai located in the central part of the city. This merger of engineering and architectural wonders is located on the west bank of Huangpu River.

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries the Bund was under the domination of the English Empire and therefore European style buildings are common for its architecture. And no wonder that the Bund is called a museum of international architecture.

The Bund is rich in Roman, Greek and Gothic style buildings. One of the richest collections of Art Deco architecture is in Shanghai and the most part of it is again centered in the Bund.

Of course, many historical attractions are situated in the Bund (Bund History Museum, Bund Garden, known as Mahatma Gandhi Udyan, statue of Chen Yi, Asia Building, Union Building), but while in Shanghai you should take the chance and also see Jing’an Temple, Waibaidu Bridge, Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Old Street and Fresh Water Pearl Gallery.

Top 5 Places To Visit In China: Part 24. Yangtze river, the “Mother River” of China, is the longest river in Asia and the third longest one in the world (3,900 miles). There are a lot of historical and cultural tourist attractions along the Yangtze River (Yueyang Tower, Fengdu Ghost City and the Yellow Crane Tower). The three gorges of the river make it one of the most outstanding and romantic attractions of China. It really deserves to be admired.

Top 5 Places To Visit In China: Part 25. Continuing our sightseeing travel through China we reach Shangri-La. This place in Yunnan Province was previously called Zhongdian. In 2001, the Chinese authorities decided to rename it Shangri-La after the rich and pervasive world in the novel “Lost Horizon” by James Hilton.

The hospitality of Shangri-La is unforgettable and its awesomely beautiful landscape provokes the hypnotic dream of paradise. It will seem like you are invulnerable to time and death there.

Shangri-La is famous for its town (Dukezong Ancient Town) and lamasery (Ganden Sumtseling Monastery).

Dukezong, a 1300-year-old Tibetan town, is the largest and most famous among 147 Tibetan counties in China. Nature amply gifted Dukezong with white clay, so no wonder that almost all dwellings are painted white. Dukezong means “City of White Stone.”

The Tibetan Buddhist Monastery of Gaden Sumtseling accommodates a great amount of ancient and worthy manuscripts, sculptures and marvelous murals that depict Buddha’s life.

Both the town and the monastery are located in Yunnan province, so both of them can be included in your list of must-see places during your sightseeing travel to China.
